What is It?

This is a solo epistolary roleplaying game where you play the role of a person who begins a new relationship.

Solo because you play alone, without a gamemaster or other players. It is for you alone.

Epistolary is letter or journal writing. You play this game by writing in a personal journal or diary. You write daily entries answering prompting questions as you tell the story of a relationship.

Roleplaying Game because you take on the persona of a fictious individual in a fictious situation. It is not a computer rpg, but a pen and paper rpg.

It is meant for adults. It has no explicit words or descriptions, but the implied themes are for mature audiences.

What You Need

  • Something in which to write (diary, journal, notebook, etc.)
  • Something with which to write (pen, pencil, etc.)
  • 1 six-sided die (d6)

How to Play

You play someone writing a daily journal about a new relationship. It is split into 4 chapters. Each chapter will have the same number of entries, plus one additional epilogue entry after the fourth chapter. You can choose the number of entries, between 3 and 8.

Each chapter is split into three types of entries: First Day is the first entry in that chapter. Middle Days are the randomly ordered entries in the middle. Last Day is the final entry in that chapter.

Each entry will prompt you with questions to answer. For Middle Days you roll the die to determine the question. Re-roll if you have already answered the question. Write the answer to the question, in character, in your journal/diary.  There is no limit or expectation for word count. Write as much or as little as you want for each entry.

Writing 3 entries per chapter is the shortest option and gives you 13 entries total. You write the First Day, only one Middle Day, and the Last Day for each chapter.

You can have up to 8 entries per chapter, for a total of 33 entries, without repeating questions. You write the First Day, all six Middle Days in a random order, and the Last Day for each chapter.

Write only one entry a day. You need not wait multiple days in real life if there is a gap of several days between entries in the story, but write no more than one entry per real day.

Do not read ahead. Only turn to the next chapter after completing the previous.
